Strawberry Crumble

Image
The two times we went to Belgium, to Bruges and to Ghent  to be exactly, we ate breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien , a place where everything you order is organic. And delicious. I already made their Hazelnut Chocolate Spread  after we came back from Bruges. Well, they came up with the idea and after some experimenting I made my own version of it.  This time I made their Strawberry Crumble.  Here's the recipe: What you need: 450 grams frozen strawberries (you can use other fruit, if  you like) 3 tablespoons sugar 170 grams flower 100 grams sugar 100 grams butter Preheat the oven on 190 degrees Celsius Just put the strawberries in a bowl that can stand the heat of the oven and sprinkle the 3 tablespoons of sugar over it.  Mix the flower and sugar and knead the butter through so you get a crumbly dough. Divide the crumbles over the strawberries and put the bowl in the oven for 30 minutes. That's all it takes! Bon Appetit!  www.betweennapsonth

Crochet Cat Curtain

Image
We live in an little old mansion and are renovating for quite a while now. Finally the renovating of the kitchen will be coming to an end soon. We moved the kitchen to the souterrain. The kitchen is much larger now and you can enter the garden from the kitchen, which is a big pro, I think. Actually it's all pro's, except for one thing: there's a window through which every person who is passing our house can see us in our kitchen eating, cooking, watching tv and such.  Maybe it's just me, but I don't like it at all to be in full sight. My husband will make shutters for the window, but has to do a lot of other jobs around the kitchen, so the shutters are somewhere in the lower regions of his to do list. For the time being I made this curtain in a frame, to stand behind the window.  The cat has the same posture as my cat Sjakie, who died two years ago. It's like the cat is watching over us and that's just what Sjakie saw as his most important task in his c

We have a Y!

Image
A couple of years ago I had a little webshop where I sold hand made stuff for babies, like blankets, play mats, toys and felt letters. The shop is long closed, but sometimes I like to make one of the things I then sold and this felt letter is one of them.   www.betweennapsontheporch.net My oldest daughter's name begins with an Y, so the Y was the letter of choice.

Grandmother's Stuff

Image
As said before we are renovating our house and will get a much bigger kitchen with more storage space. So I finally have some space for these two vases I got from my husband's grandmother. I found the grey/brown color a bit dull and since I love cherry blossom (my parents had two cherry trees in their front garden, that gave the most beautiful blossom in spring) I cheered them up with some blossom. I really love the result! Before After My own grandmother, who died a couple of years ago, gave me a box full of china, among lots of other things. The box hasn't been unpacked before, so I was really suprised when I found this beautiful piece! The pale blue color and the contrasting white, the design, it's just perfect! www.betweennapsontheporch.net

Pin Cushion

Image
Every week I link up my crochet stuff at Annemarie's Crochet Blog and sometimes I see other people's stuff that inspire me to copy cat their self made things. A couple of weeks ago I saw some really colorful pin cushion here and since my pins end up on the floor or in the arm rest of the couch when I'm sewing, I thought it was about time I made one myself.  www.betweennapsontheporch.net I used my African Flower Crochet Pattern for it again. If you want to make something with African Flowers, too, you can find the pattern here .  ~*~ My Circle Skirt is featured this week!   Thanks, Barbara from Busy Fingers Busy Life ! ~*~ And my African Flower Heart Pillow was featured by Through the Dutch Door (love that name), USS Crafty and The Cottage Market ! Thanks, Misty, T'onna and Andrea!

Crochet Throw

Image
After making the African Flower Heart Pillow I still didn't have enough of that color combination, so I made a throw. It took a while, far longer than I normally have the patience for, but peculiar enough, for one time I finished it!  www.betweennapsontheporch.net And I still haven't had enough, because when I saw a Crochet Along for another blanket I bought new yarn in the same colors and made a start. The Crochet Along will take a whole year, so it's a big question if I'm still working on the thing next year, but I will try. If you want to crochet along, too, you can find the original blog  here .
