Applications

Image
Yesterday I bought some cheap shirts for my daughters and ordered applications on the internet to decorate the shirts with.  The singlets I decorated with crochet applications that I bought in a craft store.  The longsleeves I decorated with iron on applications that I bought here . A cheap way to have original shirts!

My sister had to go to a baby shower this weekend and asked me a couple of weeks ago to make a play mat as a gift for her friend. I made this one: It’s exactly the same as the one I made a while ago for a friend’s shower. I wrapped this one up in transparent foil and decorated it with paper streamers and this heart of polymer clay: The inspiration for this I found here, at a blog called The Crafty CPA . ~*~ And again I found gorgeous orange flowers at the market this weekend!!  I love orange for flowers!

Deer Skirt

Image
This Saturday my little niece has her birthday. I made this skirt for her. Hopefully she (but especially her mother, because she’s the one who has to put it on) likes little deers! Actually it's two skirts: a black one with an application of a deer and a red underskirt with ruffles.  Linked up to: Somewhat Simple (Strut Your Stuff) The Shabby Creek Cottage (Transformation Thursday ) ~*~ As you may know by now I love watching movies. Last week I saw Thelma and Louise again and it’s still my favorite in the ‘road movie’ genre. Made me think of what is my Top 5 of favorite road movies. 1.       Thelma & Louise – about two women who find freedom in traveling around the country and don’t want to give it up, for nothing and no one 2.       The Straight Story – about a man who wants to visit his dying brother; he doesn’t have a car, so he takes his lawnmower 3. The World’s Fastest Indian – about Burt Munro, who has a fast Indian (motor

Sort of Grannies

Image
Yesterday I made a start with some granny squares. The idea I found here, at a blog called Dutch Sisters . They look a bit different from the usual granny squares, but that’s just what I like about them. I don’t know yet what I will make of it. I would like a little blanket, but I know myself well enough: it will probably take to long, I’ll be bored after a while doing the same square over and over,  and then I give up. So maybe a pillow cover is a better idea . Note by author: the finished project you can find here ! ~*~ Then again a movie proposal in the horror genre: The awakening – Also about a ghost in a house, just like my last recommendation (although this time it all takes place in a school). Very ominous. ~*~ By the way: don’t you love the colour of this tulips? Orange with a sort of flames all over it. Love it!

The Story of Sjakie

Image
About three weeks ago I lost my beloved cat Sjakie . He was very attached to our family, especially me, and before all he wanted to protect us from what he thought was evil. Fighting with other cats and even (large) dogs he therefore saw as his duty. Because of a fight with a neighborhood cat he got an abces in his neck, so we had to go to the vet to release it. But the vet identified cardiomyopathy of Sjakie’s little heart, also. He recommended us to go for an echografy of the heart at another clinic, because our vet didn’t have the proper equipment.  I wanted Sjakie’s abces to heal first, before going to another clinic, because my cat was so stressed, he scratched everybody in the treatment chamber and even bit me. Three weeks later I came home from work and found him panting and with paralyzed paws and tail. Due to his heart disease two embolisms had hit him, one in his aorta and one in his lungs. He was in a lot of pain, very short-breathed and scared to death. I to

Flower Power Waistcoat

Image
The last three weeks I worked on this waistcoat kind of garment. The inspiration for it I found   here , at a blog called Grietjekarwietje . You can find plenty of nice and beautiful crochet projects (some with tutorial) on that blog. Back Front Such a clever pattern, don’t you think? It’s just one circle with holes for the arms. Linked up to (besides the usual parties I link up to): At Home With K (Terrific Under Ten Tuesday) Meertje (Link Your Stuff) The Blackberry Vine (Tuesday To Do Party) Yesterday on Tuesday (A Crafty Soiree) The Trendy Treehouse (Create and Share) Polkadots on Parade (Wow Me Wednesday) Seven Thirty Three (Frogs and Snails and Puppy Tails) The Train To Crazy (Make It, Wear It) Fireflies and Jellybeans (Show of Your Stuff) ~*~ My friend has a orange cat called Tiger. Tiger is getting on age and before he isn’t with us anymore, she wants to have a drawing of him. Nice gif
