Last Year's Projects Revisited

Image
One day a couple of month ago I suddenly couldn't load up new pictures anymore. I thought maybe it would help if I removed some older posts with pictures from my blog, to make place for other pictures. It didn't help at all, but someone gave me the advise to use Google Chrome . That was the solution, but the removed posts were lost and I didn't make a back up. But I just saw that the pictures I placed on my blog once, are still there!  On the pictures below are the projects I made last year for X-mas. Glad I still have those pictures! Love, Peace, Joy Garland X-mas Cats Salt Dough X-mas Ornaments  The cats on the painting are my own cats. The black cat, my beloved Sjakie, died last february, but by placing the painting under the X-mas Tree, he's still with us a little bit.  www.betweennapsontheporch.net

My X-mas Tree

Image
And after all the X-mas trees you probably already saw, this one is mine: As you could read before, I've been busy crocheting snowflakes and now you can see where they did go: there all in my tree! www.betweennapsontheporch.net ~*~ This week my X-mas Reindeer is featured by Feather's Flights ! Thank you, Heather!

Postcard Embellishment

Image
This weekend I decorated the X-mas Tree and when searching through all accumulated X-mas decorations  from preceding years I found this cute little card.  I immediately loved this card with the cats, the glitters and the nice colours that someone sent me last year and wanted to keep it. My luck that just after I got it, I stumbled upon the blog of Dutch Sisters , who had this great idea  (with tutorial) to do with beautiful postcards: crochet a little edge around the card and hang it on your wall like a little painting.  Even better: it has exactly the colors I used for the living room decorations I made in the last weeks!   www.betweennapsontheporch.net

Another Sweater

Image
After knitting a sweater for my three year old, my five year old wanted a sweater too, of course (imagine mom has nothing to do for a moment!), so I started knitting again, with this as a result: I think this tunic like sweater looks a lot better than the other sweater, but fortunately three years old don’t criticize that much (yet) . I got this pattern from Sandra Kids Magazine.  www.betweennapsontheporch.net

Knitting again!

Image
It’s becoming really chilly around here (The Netherlands, that is), so I picked up an old favorite: knitting! I’m not the one for very large knitting projects, or any large project, so I stick with knitting for my little daughters. I knitted this sweater; with very thick yarn and 10 mm needles (size 15 in US). The turtle neck I made with something I never used, or ever saw before: a Quick Knit. It's like spool knitting with a very large spool. Very easy!   To break the petrol blue color block of the sweater a little I made a Elmer the Patchwork Elephant Pin. After making two paintings last week, I got the taste for it. With all his colors Elmer is such a nice creature to paint! www.betweennapsontheporch.net ~*~ Kathie of The Krafty Kat featured my embroidered Matryoshka this week! Thanks, Kathie!

A Home is Built

Image
This week I made more decoration for our recently painted living room. I've made more than enough things-in-frames now, so this will be the last piece and I won't be bothering you anymore with stuff like this :-).  The inspiration for this embroidery I found at Feathers in the Nest , t he pattern for the little house I found at a blog called Arte del Ricamo . www.betweennapsontheporch.net ~*~ And if you like crafting as much as vintage, like I do, you really have to check out the blog of Mrs.  Polly Rogers !! And I mean really! Very original and stylish!

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant

Image
Both my little daughters just LOVE the books of  Elmer the Patchwork Elephant  by David McKee and want to have the colorful creature on their bedroom wall. It’s a very funny elephant indeed, so I painted him for them. It took some time, but I finished the two paintings yesterday!  My oldest daughter is fascinated by the illustration where Elmer is looking down in the ravine, so although it isn't the most beautiful illustration in the book, I had to paint this one for her.  My youngest loves colors, so I chose an illustration with lots of colors for her.  www.betweennapsontheporch.net ~*~ Two of my projects were featured this week, YAY! Misty of The Creative Itch featured my Snowflakes . And Stephanie of Toastie Studio featured my Sinterklaas & Zwarte Piet ! Thanks, Misty and Stephanie!!

Home

Image
Recently I painted our living room over in grey and white and since a lot of accessories don’t match those colors anymore, I’m busy making things to redecorate. Last year I bought this beautiful plate in Istanbul, but because it didn’t really look nice on the terracotta colored wall we had before, it laid in a kitchen cabinet until now. To have more things in the same color combination I cross stitched this little home sign.  The pattern for it I found at Kinkavel Krosses . www.betweennapsontheporch.net ~*~ Vanessa of NiftyThrifty Things and Jill of A Round Tuit both have featured my Reindeer !  Thank you very much, Vanessa and Jill!!

For the same friend I made the potholders  in my last post for, I also embroidered this little Matryoshka. Glad to say my friend loved both, potholders as well as Matryoshka! I changed the pattern a little bit, but the original pattern of the Matryoska I found at Oksana Plus Hobbies .  www.betweennapsontheporch.net ~*~ This week Q of JAQS Studio featured my Snowflakes!  Thank you, Q!
